How to find Total Primary Trade Member Count

Member Exports for Reports

There is a substantial amount information available through IMSe Member data exports.  Member Data exports provide information such as the total number of Members in a District Council or Local Union.  Useful details include: How Many of the Members in a Council/Local have a Primary Trade, Skills, and/or Certifications in IMSe.

There are many other options for exporting other types of data.  See How to use the Select Fields area in Member Searches to determine all the details you may want in an export.

Example: How to find the Total Number of Members Primary Trades in a District Council or Local Union.
  1. In IMSe, go to Membership (under the Member Management menu).
  2. Click the Search button
  3. Enter District Council or Local Union
  4. Go to the Demographics column under the Select Fields area.
  5. Check the Primary Trade, Trade is Primary, Trade, Primary Skill and Skills boxes.
  6. Click the Search button.
  7. After the results are displayed, Click the SpreadSheet icon.
  8. Change the CSV file type to Excel.
    • Click ‘Save as.’
    • Change the ‘Save as type’ to Excel (.xls).
    • Enter a File name.
    • Click Save.
  9. Click Insert in the menu at the top of the excel file.
  10. Click the Pivot Table icon.

  12. Once you have created a Pivot Table, you may also create a Chart to compare and/or review data.
  13. The example below is a Pivot Table and Pivot Chart of Total Primary Trades in IMSe for a specific Local Union.  It is also narrowed down to Regular and Apprentice Active Members.
    • The data provides the total number of Members in the specified search is 3384
    • It list the Primary Trades
    • Provides a Member count for each Primary Trade
    • It also provides indicate there are 8 records that do Not have a Primary Trade listed in IMSe.
