NOTE: This process requires direct access to the mailbox that is being connected to Revver (i.e., not a delegated mailbox).
Step 1 - Create a label in your mailbox
You will need to create a label that you will use to tag email that will need to go into Revver.
Using Chrome, open your Gmail mailbox.
In the left navigation pane, click the + next to Labels to create a new label.
Type Revver for thename and then click Create.
At this point you can start labeling email to be sent to Revver by applying the Revver label to selected email.
Step 2 - Create a Google application password
Click on the following link to set up an application password to use in the connection between Revver and your Gmail mailbox.
https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords
You may be prompted to verify your Gmail password.
Type Revver for the name and click Create
You will see an application password. COPY THIS PASSWORD NOW. Paste it into a blank Word doc or Google doc. You will never see it again. If you do not copy it down (write it down) right now you will have to delete the password and start over. Then, click Done.
What if you can’t set up an application password?
If you do not have a 2FA device set up for your Google account, you will need to set that up first. Because IUPAT uses Okta to protect your Google account, not everyone has a 2FA device set up within Google. That’s ok, it’s not hard to fix.
Click Go to your Google Account to continue.
From the list of options on the left side, click Security.
Under How you sign in to Google click 2-Step Verification.
Click Turn on 2-Step Verification and follow the instructions. You should provide a phone number THAT CAN RECEIVE TEXT MESSAGES at a minimum. It’s not likely you will ever need to receive text messages to access your Gmail, it’s just something Google requires to create application passwords.
When finished, go to the link under Step 2 and try again to create an application password.
Step 3 - Connect your mailbox to your Revver
NOTE: You should already have a destination folder in Revver created before you start this step.
Log in to Revver and click on the IUPAT icon in the upper right corner. Then, click on My Settings.
Then, click on the Email Imports tab and then Add New Mapping.
Click on Manual Configuration and enter in the information as follows:
B: Your email address
C: The password you copied down in Step 2 - do NOT use your normal password here - it won’t work.
D. imap.gmail.com
E. 993
Click the arrows to the right of the drop-down box for Email Folder Path - this will use the credentials you provided above to connect to your mailbox.
It should only take a few moments to load the folders (labels) from your mailbox.
Choose Revver.
If you receive an imap error message, please verify the information in the four boxes above and try again.
Click Select Destination next to Mapped Destination.
Then, expand Email Archives and look for your name.
Click your name to select your personal drawer.
Click Select to continue.
Select Full email under Import Options.
Select Trash for where to move imported email after it has been processed by Revver.
Click Save Mapping. The connection is complete.
NOTE: It is recommended to only have ONE connection between a mailbox and Revver.
Step 4 - Sending email to Revver
Select one or more messages and click the label icon. Then, click on Revver. Allow several minutes for processing to happen - be patient!
You will know that it has been processed when the email has been moved to your Trash folder.
NOTE: Do not re-label already processed email as “Revver” - it will create duplicate copies of the email in Revver.
In Revver, you will see the processed email in your email archive drawer. You may have to reload the page to see recently processed items.
